It looks as if YouTube is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. If Nintendo of America’s website is believed, the YouTube app appears when searching for games, in the “You might also like…” section. The release date is marked as November 8, 2018, which is this Thursday.
This seems to be a feature that would fit the Switch’s screen nicely, as switching between docked and handheld mode would make it easy to watch videos on-the-go. It makes sense for Nintendo to add another video service (currently only Hulu is offered in the US) to the console, as many other video game systems had apps like YouTube available from the start.
Hopefully this is the start of more streaming services making their way to the Switch. Netflix, Crunchyroll, and even Prime Video remain some of the most sought-after channels, so this could just be the beginning.
What are your thoughts on YouTube coming to the Nintendo Switch? Do you plan on using the app?
