It looks like Mario may be getting some new art and threads for his world: according to dataminer Random Talking Bush and The Cutting Room Floor (reliable site concerning content unused or cut from video games), Super Mario Odyssey received 20 new thumbnails for hint art in the 1.2.o update earlier last week. Additionally, it appears there are plenty of unused costumes found in the game’s code as well. Photos showing off the costumes and hint art can be found below.

So what could all of this mean? Essentially, while we know that the newest update brought Luigi’s Balloon World, new costumes, and Snapchat filters, these thumbnail and costume findings point to their own, eventual, release within Odyssey.
Nintendo hasn’t been shy about updating Mario’s latest adventure, so it would make sense that they’d also explore updating little things throughout the game.

All of this data would also correlate to statements made by Super Mario Odyssey producer Yoshiaki Koizumi during his interview with Game Informer. Koizumi hinted at more DLC in the future, saying:
There’s a lot of volume in Super Mario Odyssey. That was a big focus in development: give the player loads to do.We pushed ourselves to create as much as we could. I can’t announce anything specifically today, but of course, if there was a really cool idea for us to do, then we would certainly be thinking about DLC.
Again, nothing is concrete at this time. As soon as more information is found regarding Odyssey’s next moves, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, check out the video below by YouTube user Akfamilyhome, revealing potential locations of the hidden hint art.
