The folks over at Yacht Club Games have released some additional details concerning the upcoming Shovel Knight: Official Design Works book. Check it out:
We’ve had the ultimate pleasure of working an an official Shovel Knight art book with UDON Entertainment, best-known as a publisher of original and translated art books, graphic novels, and manga! Some of their best-known projects are from video game franchises, including Street Fighter, Okami, Mega Man, Dark Souls, Persona, Bayonetta, Valkyria Chronicles, Sonic the Hedgehog, and many more. We have spent countless hours poring over their books, so needless to say, we are pumped to be working with them!!
UDON has worked very closely with us to ensure that Shovel Knight: Official Design Works is every bit the definitive Shovel Knight art book that fans deserve. Within its pages you’ll find character art, developer commentary, rough illustrations and concept art, background development images, comprehensive sprite sheets, full-page promotional illustrations, and more – including an exclusive interview with the team! It was a ton of fun to recall our processes and problems with crafting each of the characters and worlds in Shovel Knight, and we can’t wait to share it all with you!
Shovel Knight: Official Design Works will be available for purchase at finer comic book stores, book retailers, and various online retailers in August 2017.
You can pre-order your copy of the book now!

Andrew has been a nerd his whole life. He built his first computer when he was 8, started working in the IT industry at 15, and played competitive Counter-Strike at 16. His interest in amiibo started before their release but didn’t really take off until after the new year. He doesn’t like to admit it but Little Mac and WFT are among the amiibo that he had pre-ordered from Amazon but cancelled before their release. Little did he know a few months later he’d help start Amiibo Alerts. Gaming has always been his passion. He grew up with an NES, Sega Genesis, and PS2 before realizing that PCs truly are better than consoles.
The urge to be a little better, brought on by being a gamer, is what pushes him to help make Amiibo Alerts and Nintendeal amazing communities. Together with the team he has built, he is realizing a life-long dream: bringing something helpful and fun to a large group of people. Andrew’s role at Amiibo Alerts and Nintendeal as Founder and Editor in Chief allows him to create and build contacts within the community, review and present products, and stay on top of all things Nintendo.
Plays: Switch, PC, Xbox One, PS4, WiiU, 3DS, Vita, and board games.
