Japanese publication Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun recently released a brief interview with Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa. In the interview Furukawa announced that the “Switch is the home console seeing the fastest software sales so far in Nintendo’s history.” Which comes as no surprise to those owning and playing Switch regularly. These sales were boosted by the recent release of Pokemon: Let’s Go and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the latter of which passed 5 million global sales in its first week after release.
Dr. Serkan Toto relayed the information on Twitter:

In that thread you’ll also notice Furukawa mentions smartphone gaming as a pillar of earnings, and states he’s interested in publishing apps across multiple fields. Maybe the rumors of the Apple buy-up have reached his ears and is sparking creative motivation. Check out our rundown of that speculation here.
And of course, let us know your thoughts below. Did you pick up either Pokemon: Lets go or Smash Bros. this last holiday season?
I’m not interested in mobile gaming.
I picked up Let’s Go Eevee shortly after release and got SSBU as a present.
