As of today, Nintendo has applied for nine new trademarks for their upcoming games, such as Luigi’s Mansion, Smash Bros, Metroid, and Mario & Luigi. More interesting, though, was the inclusion of Wario Land in the application. This is the second time the words Wario Land have been mentioned in an application within the past year.
The last Wario Land game we saw released was back in 2008, known in North America as Wario Land: Shake It! We wonder if this could signal the impeding release of a new, or remastered, Wario Land game, or if the trademark simply has something to do with the upcoming WarioWare Gold for 3DS.
The full list of applications are as follows: image for Octo, Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario & Luigi, Metroid, Metroid Prime, Smash Bros., Wario Land and WarioWare.
As we’ve seen before, Nintendo is pretty active in the trademark department, which is to be expected. Remember, trademarks, once registered, represent particular products using images, text, or logos, all being found on the products themselves. Time will tell what this signals, but it still begs the question: would you like to see a new, or revisited, Wario Land game on the Switch or 3DS?
