Swedish developers, and industry-veterans, Image & Form International AB (best known for the Steamworld franchise) and Zoink AB (upcoming Fe, and Stick it to The Man!) have teamed up to officially announce their new studio, aptly named Thunderful AB. The two now-partnered studios have worked together in the past, and look towards the future in their Gothenbeurg-based location.

Between the two companies they have: 16 succesful releases, 20 years creating, 9 games in development, over 2 million games sold, all being held together by a team of 46 people. To fit the new partnership, Thunderful is currently in the search for bigger offices. They understand that in order to keep making games at a “world-class” level they must continue to advance within the industry. This partnership stays true to that.

CEO of Image & Form, as well as Thunderful, Brjann Sigurgeirsson stated that, “We already work together on a daily basis in PR, marketing, intelligence and publishing,” while also adding that, “Image & Form and Zoink will continue to produce games like we always do, but we’re now formalizing our close relationship. Through Thunderful we can share resources more effectively, officially act together and launch bigger, more ambitious game projects. We’re becoming a real powerhouse.” Also on comment was Klaus Lyngeled, CEO of Zoink and Chief Creative Officer of Thunderful, saying, “Brjann and I already exchange very much information, so this development is natural.”

Of course, another key cog in the relationship is Bergsala Holding, who are the chief distributor of Nintendo products in the Nordic regions of the world. The company holds a share of the new Thunderful Games, being a co-owner with Klaus Lyngeled and Brjann Sigurgeirsson.

We hope this partnership does in fact continue to provide great games for the platform we love, especially if we continue to see releases like this past year. If you still haven’t played Steamworld Dig 2, we highly recommend it, and are excited to see what Fe holds in February.
