Atlus Games, responsible for the Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, The King of Fighters, and Etrian Odyssey franchises, to name but a few, is asking for your opinion on where Persona 6 should be released, along with others interesting questions surrounding the future of their series, via an extensive survey for its Japanese fanbase.
The list basically lays out options of all genres, including a fighting game, strategy, online RPG or action RPG, a shooter, or a completely different approach to Persona 6. Every choice has the option to choose the platform of preference, being Nintendo Switch, PS4, Vita, VR, 3DS, Smartphones, or something else (such as Xbox One). The next series of questions is regarding the remakes of their older series’, again asking the platform of choice.
Furthermore, the last two categories mentioned touch on spinoff games created by other developers for franchises like Persona becoming a dancing game, or the Shin Megami Tensei series itself. The last category of questions are in regards to a brand-new IP from Atlus, non-gaming media (such as anime), spinoffs of their main series, ports to new consoles of prior games; essentially, just what direction you’d like to see them pursue as a whole. For those that don’t recall, Persona 5 was a critical success, garnering many GOTY rewards around the gaming community, so it’s interesting to see a developer take a stance like this for the next iteration.
All of this begs the idea of Atlus starting to make games for the Switch, just as they’ve done with the 3DS in the past. They’ve gone ahead and said they would support it, starting with Shin Megami Tensei V, so hopefully this is a continued step in that direction.
The survey is in Japanese, but if you’d like to check out the full text, it can be found here. We’d here be ecstatic if the Persona series made its way onto Switch. If you had to (or did) vote, where would you like to see Persona 6 end up? Or are you more of a fan of the Persona board game? Let us know in the comments below.
